Some facts about water pumping. Is it economically feasible lets see. Feel free to add points or correct me.
👉Cusec is unit of water flow/sec. 1 Cusec = 28.3 litres/sec
👉1 TMC = 28.3*1000000000 litres
👉When 11574 cusec flow for a day its equal to 1TMC

👉Recently Telangana is working on huge water lift project. Some component of it completed
👉Water lifting is thro huge pumps. One 40 MW pump lifts 60 cusec of water
👉Lets see what it means n what it costs:
60 cusec=1698 litres/sec

👉So if 60 cusec flows for one day
28.3*60sec*60min*24hrs=14,67,07,200 litres
👉To lift 1 TMC i.e. 28.3*1000000000/144707200=193 days by 40MW pump
👉Now its see electrical consumption:
1 kw/hr = 1 unit.
1 MW/hr = 1000 unit.
40 MW/hr = 40000 units

👉So for 193 days running to lift 1 TMC total electrical units consumed is:
40000*24hrs*193days = 18,52,80,000
👉Even if subsidised electricity charge of Rs 5/unit is considered the cost for pumping is 92.64 cr.

👉This is just one cost, other major costs r: first to build a dam to store water, pump house, power station, power lines, canal/pipes, manpower to maintain it n their running cost
👉One acre of sugarcane requires 2.5 cr litres of water. So in 1 TMC 1312 acres of sugarcane is

irrigated
👉At Rs 4Lacs/acre yield the income generated is 45.28 cr
👉No other crop gives this much income
👉Now one can conclude whether such schemes r feasible
👉Same case with water grid connecting different dams in Marathwada

👉Very important to remember, to generate one unit of electricity aprrox 1.5 litres of water is required
👉Those who think flood water can be diverted from dam by pumping, see this:
Normal release of water during floods is 10K to 1Lac cusec depending on gravity

👉Considering very nominal pumping of 10000 cusec of flood water 166 pumps of 40MW capacity will be required
👉6666 MW capacity of generating plants will have to erected for this work
👉Every state working on such schemes should once think on this points. 🙏🙏
