Today I have been alcohol free for 6 months! A few observations, as someone who used to drink all the time:
I am healthier and more fit than I can ever remember being, including high school and college. Being sober has enabled me to get a great exercise streak going (166 days in a row), as I can finally wake up in the morning ;)
I have a lot more time in the day. More hours are usable hours now, because there isn’t time spent trying to get over a hangover or even just being slow to get out of bed.
I haven’t missed it like I thought I would. I’ve been able to go to social events, dinners, etc without feeling like I need to have a drink. I’ve consumed A LOT of soda water and lime.
More people want to quit alcohol than you’d think. After I quit, many of my close friends did as well (or significantly reduced their consumption). I was surprised, this included people who I thought loved drinking as much as I did.
Not drinking is in the zeitgeist now. It seems like many are finally awakening to the damage alcohol does to them. There are even people seeing this as a business opportunity: cnn.com/2019/06/08/tec…

This is definitely one of the biggest life hack / productivity boosters I’ve done. Never going back!
