I think I just literally created an entire season of Ninjago in my sleep. I dreamt I was in a store and saw a set from the next wave. It was a $200 updated Destiny's Bounty set, but the bad guys stuck out to me: monochrome shadow ronins. So I decided to expand on that idea.
So this season would introduce the concept of my Oni Warlords, Venge, Decer, and Ha-eed. After their destruction at the hands of the FSM, the oni banded together under a new Warlord named Lord Umbra. Seeking revenge for his fallen masters, Umbra would target the FSM's people.
This would take place before King Mambo V and Aspheera, back when humans and Serpentine lived in harmony, with a group of Samurai tasked with keeping the peace. The Oni ronin, or Onin, as Jay would most likely call them, infiltrated the Samurai and
attacked the Serpentine, causing a divide between the two races. The Samurai and Elemental Masters of the time would banish the Onin to the Realm of Madness, but the damage was already done, and the tension between humans and Serpentine would remain forever.
The season could start when Garmadon returns to the Realm of Madness to return his extra arms and become "normal" again, and while there he discovers the Onin, who escape the Realm and enter Ninjago to threaten the newfound peace between the remaining Serpentine.
I'd like for the Serpentine to have a more active role in this season, with Skales forced to don his title as king again and fight alongside the ninja. His minifigure would have the armor used for the Pyro Snakes, but in metallic blue.
The ninja would wear some sort of leather scalemail armor, reminiscent of snake scales. The Onin themselves would be remnants of the Oni Warlords, and would share their powers depending on what Warlord they followed. I have ideas for their appearances, which I want to draw.
