Grounding is essential for survivors, especially to manage symptoms of PTSD.

Grounding is about connecting with our body and anchoring our body in our surroundings, to calm anxiety and control dissociation patterns when feeling triggered.

By grounding, we can stay present and make sure that we are in control of decision making and can respond soothingly to our inner child who may be suffering a trauma response to feeling triggered (so maybe reacting with fight/flight/freeze). #SexAbuseChat
The simplest way to approach grounding is to tap into our 5 senses.

Just asking ourselves what we can see, hear, smell, taste, feel (physically) can bring us back into the room and help us to feel secure and safe enough to do what we need in the moment. #SexAbuseChat

Single parents Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugou stuck in at this PTO picnic because if they don't go to a certain amount, they're fined $200.

Izuku with his little unruly son Kota. Bakugou with his very chill daughter Eri.
And Bakugou is a busy freaking dude. He's a top hero, closing in to the top 3. He does his damn best to be in his daughter's life. To make sure she never feels as if he's too busy for her. He isn't. This is the dad who spent two days combing through -
the internet to learn how to style her hair. He makes a personal bento for her 3/5 days. Wakes up early and walks her to school.

But he hates the PTO. Hates the way these extras try to slide closer to him. Try to pretend they want to talk to his kid just so they can try him.

Tastes and smells are notoriously emotional. Smells can evoke a flood of memories, with all their associations. Freshly-cut grass, your partner's favorite flowers, the spices of your favorite meal, or the ammoniac strike of a campground toilet. Why so strong?
