#INXMedia : CBI Court assembles to hear the INX Media case.

CBI had filed its chargesheet in the case against former Union Minister P Chidambaram, Karti Chidambaram and others last week.

Chargesheet is filed for commission of Offences under 120B read with 420, 468, 471 IPC and 9, 13 Prevention of Corruption Act.
There are 14 accused including 4 companies and 7 public servants. Further investigation is still open, Counsel for CBI tells Court.

Some accused are on bail, some have not been arrested yet, CBI counsel.

Judge asks how the offence of cheating is made out.

Counsel: The notings in the file were changed by the public servants in violation of the rules to show favour to INX Media.

The offences pertain to excess amount of FDI approved by the public servants and then investing the excess amount into the downstream company without permission, CBI Counsel.

Stand (of public servants) was changed and not noting. Initially approval was given and various complaints were received with respect to the irregularities committed by INX Media. Communication was then sent to INX Media to clarify its stand, CBI counsel.

Instead of answering it, INX Media sent the letter to Chest Management to prepare a reply. This "dubious reply" was sent to FIPB in pursuance of a conspiracy and stand of each and every person changed subsequently, CBI Cousnel.

S Bhaskararaman, Karti's associate created a false invoice for professional services rendered by Advantages Media to INX Media. This amount was actually the illegal gratification, CBI Counsel.
