Somebody out there plse explain to me: What has happened and continues to happen to, and in, this party of Tambo and his ilk? Theres rot all over. 1) Municipalities under ANC have been destroyed and collapsed by party engineered corruption and patronage.
2) SOEs that are vital instruments of economic growth have been broken and looted by ANC cadres deployed there to create avenues for plunder. Those who resisted were fired. 3) The public service has been degraded through incompetence and No accountability
4) The criminal justice system was systematically degraded and rendered toothless under the watch of the ANC. Plse help me understand. How can a party embrace corruption as an enterprise without affecting society? Yet, no politician is in jail. God help us.

Fact is: some degree of patronage is practiced by all political parties globally. The restraining element is depth of prevailing culture of accountability. But the ANC has turned patronage and corruption into an enterprise. Its structurally embedded.

Nelson Mandela, who died on 5 Dec. 2013, would have been 100-years-old today. He oversaw the transition from apartheid to majority rule in South Africa, gaining a near-saintly reputation. But his legacy, and that of his party, the African National Congress, is more complicated.
The Soviet Union before the Second World War had little knowledge of Africa. One of its few focuses was South Africa, the most developed state, and the #ANC from its foundations was tied up with the slavishly pro-Soviet #SACP and more directly with Soviet intelligence.
By the 1930s, the Soviets lost interest in revolution in Africa, though retained its #ANC assets. In the 1960s, the U.S.S.R. moved to try to win the Cold War in the Third World. It provided money and other support to the ANC, plus encouraging a virtual merger with the SACP.

1- Taking a deep dive into the Communauté métisse du Domaine-du-Roy et de la Seigneurie de Mingan (CM) this am, the first self-declared “métis” org to file a court case post-Powley. That case reached the QC Court of Appeal in May 2017. Waiting for decision any day.
2- CM’s origins in January 2005 were in anti-Innu and white rights activism. They’ve left a LOT of traces, including in the 31 interviews (2007) with its founders that it submitted in the court case.
3- What’s clear through member oral histories conducted by a sympathetic anthropologist for the purpose of “proving” their claim is that these folks came to work together as white rights activists first and foremost.
