So, at first, listening to Dr. Hill, I felt a tremendous identification.

I grew up in working-class Sydney. There are so many markers of class (like Dr. Hill's northern English accent) in Australia & UK, that people here don't get, it feels liberating to be unencumbered by them.
But when Dr. Hill then went on to the rah rah rah America part, I had to step back. Because at the same time, I am VERY MUCH aware that my experience is NOT the experience of so many people in this country, more than anyone Black and Brown people and Indigenous Americans.
To erase slavery, the genocide of Indigenous people, because you were presented with an opportunity that you were denied in your own country because of class is the most supreme arrogance.
So the part of me that wants to cheer Dr. Hill as a feminist recognizes that she still very much espouses a White feminist ideology.
PS Which doesn't mean I don't appreciate how important or amazing her testimony was in terms of the impeachment hearings.

I just think it's important that we don't erase the experience of Black and Brown people in ANY context.
