In 8th grade, I moved from New York City to the suburbs.
It took a grand total of one day to notice my new school was far less diverse than my old school.

I mean, you don’t even need to step foot in schools to know that if attendance is neighborhood-based, populations are going to reflect neighborhoods.
My suburban town had two sides of the tracks. Literally. One was financially better off and far less diverse than the other.

I have never set foot in the middle school on the financially better off side of town in my life.
I don’t need to do that to understand the obvious: its student population is vastly whiter than the one on my side of town’s was.
