Not easy to work out where @UKLabour goes from here. There are already two competing narratives out there about where it all went wrong. Here are a few downbeat thoughts. 1/
One view is that the country has rejected Corbyn and/or Corbynism. Within that, there are lots of very different things which *could* be the main focus. 2/
Is it the radicalism of the programme, the deliberate tacking away from the centre ground? Is it the failures in party management (the way in which anti-semitism has (not) been dealt with properly; divided constituency parties, etc)? Is it Corbyn himself and his poor ratings? 3/
Self-evidently, the 'cure' will depend on the way in which the problems are diagnosed. Different factions are likely to interpret the results differently. 4/
The second view, is that this was a Brexit election, and that Labour lost many leave seats because it tacked too far towards remain. 5/
I strongly disagree - but that's now history. Those pushing this view are, in the main, resistant to change, and are seeking to deflect attention away from the first view: the rejection of Corbyn(ism). 6/
On Brexit, the key question now is how the Labour party positions itself, and how it acts as the WAB makes its way through Parliament, and then as we move to the future relationship discussions. 7/
There are a lot of big questions. There is huge scope for internal division, even for splits. It certainly won't be easy for the Party to coalesce around a new leader with a coherent programme. 8/8
