This site was first excavated by ASI in 1876. Dr.Jagor, German.
Finds include utensils, iron weapons (knives, sword blades and hatchets)
And bones.

All the artefacts were taken away by him to Berlin.
There is a museum in Berlin for Asian art.

What's very interesting is that NO DETAILS OF HIS COLLECTION ON ADICHANALLUR IS AVAILABLE.

His other collections are recorded and displayed in the museum.

Then Mr.Alexander rea carried out studies from 1899 to 1905.
He found a burial site of about 114 acres.
Findings include bones, Pottery, vessels, diadems and metal artefacts.

Currently, his collections are the only documented source of the site.

He was of the view that the site belonged to pandyas. A poto tamil race.
About 20 Gold #diadems were found. Signifying the royal ones among the people. These are tied around the foreheads. (Still a custom)

A mother goddess figurine was found. And no other religious proofs.

Now you get another reason why this site was not given importance.

RELIGION
Iron artefacts include swords, daggers, arrowheads and other weapons used in warfare and hunting. Also Agricultural tools.

Highly Skilled bronze ornaments and animal figurines.
Currently, the swords are in Chennai museum. Dr.shrada has made extensive research on it.
Her findings indicate that high grade carbon steel or wootz steel (constitutes >60% of steel we use today) was manufactured in South India.
The world famous #Damascus sword is from adichanallur.
Ppl are still researching on it's making. Even nanotechnology is being proposed.
The point is swords indicate warrior class. And recent research studies indicate that it's an mining and metal work site.

Their findings on few skulls was that it had resemblance to ppl of tamil &Telugu.

Their conclusion -only site with extensive results at that point of time.
Despite all the findings and suggestions the site was abandoned.

After 1905, T.sathyamurthy(ASI) carried out excavation only in 2004. That too bcoz of an NGO.
100 years they forgot this site. Why?
He found 165 urns, with 3 bearing Tamil brahmi or tamizhi inscriptions.
(so it's not keeladi that established Tamil being the oldest language. It's adichanallur.)

All the pottery were identified to be unique and predates the megalithic period.

A beautiful motif(art works found in caves)was found first of it's kind in TN on a pottery.
The team also found the habitation site. (So keeladi is not the first habitation site of TN, it's adichanallur discovered a decade ago)
Findings include a town's fortification, Pottery klins, pots, floor with lime plaster. Showing signs of a urban centre.
Another important find is of a tamizhi inscription inside an urn.
This is also first of it's kind as letters are usually found outside a pot or urn.
There is a lot of debate on this inscription. Whether those are letters or nail marks. (Tamil findings are always controversial)
And till now ASI has not released any reports on it. Why?
That's the end of excavations by ASI in adichanallur.
In 2019, after the intervention of high court. 2 samples.

Let me remind you among 100s, only two were sent for dating. And
they dated back to c.9 BC and c.6 BC.
But it's good to know that the world didn't ditch adichanallur.
Mr.kennedy (Cornell, NY) regarded the site as key stone of human race formation.
He compiled research works.

His essay was published in 1986 titled "Hauntings at adichanallur: an Anthropological ghost story".
A skull bearing similarities with primitive negroid race. (Lapicque 1903)
A skull similar to australoids and another to Grimaldi (Stone age skeletal remains in Italy) (zuckermann 1930)
Skeletal remains belonged to australoids and Mediterranean races (Gupta and Chatterjee 1963).
Later P.Ragavan and team conducted detailed studies in 2004.
Among the 170 skeletal remains
35% was caucasoid
30% was mongoloid
14% negroid
5% australoid
(Known four primitive human races till date)
8% dravidian
8% mixed traits
So thus it is an cosmopolitan cemetery.
If this is the cemetery of the foreigners then where is the cemetery of the natives of adichanallur?
#JustAsking
Who are they?
If only 10% reveals this much, then what about the entire site?
Why any govt doesn't support this study?
Why it's not given the same attention as IVC?
Never did they carryout any DNA studies.

INDUS VALLEY CIVILIZATION was found only in 1921. And is studied for 100 long years.
Long before it adichanallur and #arikamedu were discovered.
But ASI didn't show any interest. Why?

Losing your identity is first submission to slavery
