It's an analogy for how adults have to enter flawed systems to make real change.
Tory manifesto says they're keeping first-past-the-post, so while I WOULD have joined the Green, that's only an option after Labour win 2024 on a PR manifesto.
A) Include electoral reform in its manifesto so Lib Dem & Green voters know that a Labour vote in 2024 is a route to real power in 2029.
B) Be a broad church, a civil ecosystem representing the balance of lefty views and have a leader who reflects that balance.
And with the #LabourLeadershipElection being scheduled for March and the fact that only members get a say, or are even listened to, I had to make this decision a lot more hastily than I would have liked.
However because my task is to change Labour, publicly & objectively criticising it will be a key part of my activities.
