I was today years old when I found out that someone called Billie Eilish exists. Am I a boomer? Do I deserve to die?
Does the fact that I know absolutely nothing about music, couldn't tell pop from rock, rock from metal and metal from a woodpecker, and my kids will pay me cash money to make sure I don't sing along with Russian songs in my car excuse me or make it worse?
The only reason I have found out of Billie Eilish's existence is that the totality of Russian internet is beside itself with her because something-something "not real music" something-something. Of course, being outraged at foreign musicians is now Russia's national pastime, so..

This is true. We grew up not even knowing the term Holocaust, and Soviet schools only mentioned the sacrifice of the Soviet and Russian people, never drawing any attention to Jews.
In fact, many folks were under the impression that Jews were traitors and collaborators.
Schools didn't explicitly teach us that Jews collaborated with Nazis, of course, but because they didn't teach us that Jews couldn't collaborate even if they wanted to, and the stereotype of a cowardly, disloyal Jew was firmly established, this was an easy leap for many.
Additionally, Jews were stereotyped as weak, whiny and generally bad soldiers, who did everything to weasel out of conscription. The fact that Jews were disproportionally represented among both the casualties and the Hero of the Soviet Union recipients, didn't convince anyone.

But you know what's up? 95% of you are the same way, that's what's up.
Like, nobody fucking knows what rock-n-roll and what's rock-a-doodle, or, Darwin forbid, folk rock. It's all just words to all but like the hardcore 1%. To the rest of us, it's purely responding to the hook.

For years now, I have tried to direct the attention of hockey fans in America to the fact that Alex Ovechkin has supported Putin's conquest of Ukraine and took part in a recruitment campaign to perpetuate the war.
Crickets. Fans don't care. Media doesn't care. Yay, Ovi!
In fact, the reaction of the fans has been openly hostile, as in how dare I direct their attention to something of no importance to them, whereas Ovi's prowess at putting a piece of rubber into a metal frame is so undeniably wonderful and gives them vast amounts of joy.
In fact, the @Capitals went as far as banning me from the rink, just to show the media what can be done to reporters who dare to broach the subject or to criticize their asset. The media got the message.
All of this is possible precisely because AMERICANS DON'T CARE.
At all.

Millie Bobby Brown and now Billie Eilish are two underage girls who say Drake (a whole 32-years-old) texts them. This is troublesome. Something we should maybe sit up/pay attention to. Like...now. As opposed to later when we usually do, lamenting "we should have paid attention"
I’m the same age as Drake. I don’t even have a desire to text teenagers I’m related to. He’s such a fucking creep and he’s practically daring us to give a shit with the behavior he’s letting us see out in the open.

I was today years old when I found out one of my favorite movies: Adventures in Babysitting (1987) has a remake & it was also the 100th Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM).
So I'll be watching the original Adventures in Babysitting before I watch the remake some other time. I'm no doubt gonna find problems bc y'know...1980s and all
