I just got back from Nevada, and hoooo boy have I got stories for you…

This past Saturday, the @NVDems had a meeting with precinct captains, and still couldn’t show them a demo of the iPad app they'll use on Caucus Night to submit totals.
@nvdems As a backup to their app, Nevada precinct captains will use paper ballots and count them by hand.

Because, just like in Iowa, the Caucus Night app they plan to use has not been tested at scale.

Will be interesting to see if this trend holds during a presidential election year.
Trump's tweet interaction rate has fallen from 0.55% in the month he was elected to 0.32% in June 2017 and down to 0.16% this month through May 25.

Y'all, someday I'll do a full rundown on my research on this, but Starbucks "oh we're great to workers" song and dance is one of the greatest corporate cons of the last decade.
I did a lot of research on Starbucks when the Philly arrests happened (I worked at a local antiracist org), and one of my first discoveries was that their whole PR campaign around raising pay and providing "living wages" was an elaborate bait and switch.
See, Starbucks' *previous* PR push around what great employers they are was all about providing healthcare/"college tuition" for workers doing more than I think it was 20 hours a week.

And I guess a whole lot more workers signed up for it than they thought, because...

I told her I didn’t have an answer, but that I would find one. And low and behold, that’s when @bentoniavoices became an ambassador for @mamas4kamala— a grassroots movement of caregivers across this country who want to see @KamalaHarris as our next POTUS.
@mamas4kamala understands @KamalaHarris spent her career fighting for our vulnerable populations—specifically women and children.

So Ruby and I started to hold events, and we canvassed parks because we knew the only way to do this right, was to bring the campaign to the people.

This might explain why we’re not so good at talking about fears and emotions. We might not have had role models to tell us it’s okay to be a man *and* be scared, *and* be vulnerable, *and* be down or lost etc etc etc. We need more of that.
We CAN do that for one another though, no? We can be examples of a different kind of...presence? Talk to one or two or three of your friends about the shit that’s genuinely going sideways in your life.

back to morven farm for day two of the city council planning retreat. this event is “open to the public,” but is 20 minutes outside of town, GPS to the address takes you to the wrong gate, the number on their site is dead, & you have to give your name to a gatekeeper. “open” huh?
civic engagement starter pack: notebook, pen, external battery, snacks. not pictured: steely resolve to make it through the whole damn day.
the false entrance is blocked off with cones this morning and the gatekeeper only asked if i was “a citizen,” not for my name. i can’t help but feel like these changes are a response to my furious call to city hall yesterday.
