𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒕?!
You’ve probably said this a lot and if you haven’t, someone has said it to you.
High temperatures can be very bad for our health, but thankfully you can protect yourself by doing the following
A THREAD!!!
Minimize antiperspirant use: They can reduce the amount of sweat produced by the body and although nobody likes being sweaty, it prevents heat cramps, exhaustion and heat stroke.
Use a deodorant instead, clean the residue with baby wipes and reapply during the day to keep fresh.
🧴 Next to water, sunscreen is your best friend: Protect your skin from long-term sun damage and skin cancer by (re)applying sunscreen with SPF 30-50. Those above 50+ rarely give additional benefits.
💆🏽‍♀Be patient: It is a fact that there are more mental health condition exacerbations during hot periods like this as people are generally more irritable and uncomfortable at this time. It is important to be patient with yourself and others to keep better moods.
💡 Eliminate any extra heat sources: Open up the windows for fresh air and turn off that bulb!
Metal heats up very fast, so if possible, step out of the car when it is turned off.
Eat fresh foods that do not require heating, where possible
Pay attention to your body: Dry eyes? Dull, dry skin? Constant tiredness- mental or physical?
This is a good time to look out for changes in your body as these are signs of dehydration which could be fatal, if not handled properly.
Stay hydrated with water all day, every day.
🍹 Watch what you drink: Stay away from caffeinated, alcoholic and sugary drinks as they can be very dehydrating.
Take in a lot of water, at least 3L (4 bottles of water/ 5 sachets of pure water,) which you can infuse with fruit for better taste and more nutrients.
Electrolyte/ sport drinks are also great for rehydration.

Do these to stay in tip-top health through this heat. We know you can!
Which of these will you put into action today?
