We need emergency testing and triage clinics right now. They need to be free and easily accessible. Early-stage sick people and contacts can’t be left to wait for a doctor’s appointment while shedding virus, and they need a better option than bringing it into a crowded ER.
If I just got $8.3 billion this is what I would do. Huge tents and temporary structures in parking lots and spaces adjacent to hospitals with free, 24/7, rapid testing. Drive thru option. Some people can be reassured. Some can be told to self quarantine. Some can be sent inside.
Officials need to drop the pretense that low case numbers mean success. At this point we need to assume low numbers mean failure to detect. theatlantic.com/health/archive…
