THREAD/ Imagine if I told you that years before a global pandemic broke out that would claim thousands (possibly tens of thousands) of lives, destroyed the livelihoods of millions, cratered the global economy, halted global travel and commerce and fueled xenophobia, a team of 
scientists identified the possible risks associated with the emergence of a respiratory virus found in specific bats in China that could be transmitted to humans. Imagine these scientists published their findings and warned of the disruption it would cause to the global economy.
Imagine that their manuscripts in respected journals were read by the federal agencies and government whose sole job is to identify these diseases and prepare a comprehensive response to those threats all to protect human lives.
And then imagine our government did absolutely nothing to prepare for that eventuality despite the warnings from the scientists. Outraged?
Now imagine if this was caused by a terrorist attack where the analysts and experts had data and were warning us that a terrorist attack is about to happen and the government did nothing to prevent it or protect us from it and were not even prepared to respond when it happened
The bottom line. Believe the scientists.
