Ranjit Singh made a Will that after his death, Kohinoor diamond be donated to Jaggannath Temple Puri. He died in 1839. After fall of Sikh Empire in 1849 after 2nd Anglo-Sikh war, British gifted Kohinoor diamond to Queen Victoria, not complying with terms of Ranjit Singh’s Will.
According to 'History of Koh-I-Noor' by NB Sen, 1st published 1953, Maharaja Ranjit Singh before his death wished that Kohinoor diamond be sent to Jagannath Temple Puri. But his Sardars refused. Had the diamond been sent then, it would not have fallen into British hands.

28 Feb 1757. Jat prince Jawahar Singh with 5000 men offered resistance against Ahmad Shah Abdali's forces near Mathura fr 9 hrs, but in vain. What followed was genocide of 1000s of devotees who assembled in Mathura/Vrindavan 2 celebrate Holi 👇

Continuing my series on Maharaja Ranjit Singh, today I take a look at one of his most trusted generals, a man whose name was enough to strike fear in the hearts of the Afghans. A hero about whom not much is known really.
Hari Singh Nalwa.
“Hari Ragla” two words that struck terror in the hearts of Afghans. Two words that made Afghan mothers put their kids to sleep with. Two words that just about summed up the man, who was a terror to the Afghans, dealt a death blow to their plans of territorial expansion.
Hari Singh Nalwa, was a shining star in Ranjit Singh's court, that had other great persons like Dewan Mokam Chand, Zorawar Singh. A man who even in death, frightened the Afghans, to the extent they fled from the battlefield than face him.

The Kangra fort & its volatile history.

A look at the history of the Kangra fort shows that the structure was built by the Rajputs of Katoch dynasty. The ancestry of this dynasty can be traced back to the ancient Trigata Kingdom, which is depicted in the Mahabharata.
