NEW: #wmata now says there are 8 confirmed cases of employees diagnosed with coronavirus; no details yet where the most recent employee worked or was last on duty. Metro also says several additional cases are pending, awaiting confirmation.

#wmata has updated their website. The 8th employee confirmed to have the coronavirus is a bus operator out of the Shepherd Parkway division. Last on the job: March 12th, diagnosis confirmed yesterday. Recovering at home.

All 10 employees are now recovering at home (one was earlier hospitalized).

This is a great point. The list of known COVID-19 infections on the #wmata data portal (wmata.com/covidstats) does not include contractors that do work within the bus/rail/access system, only employees, meaning we're missing necessary context.
3 of the 13 confirmed COVID-19 cases of #wmata employees have been bus operators working out of the Shepherd Parkway Bus Facility. The 13th employee report, 3rd bus op out of Shepherd Pkwy, was still at work yesterday but is listed as "hospitalized"

A 15th #wmata employee has been confirmed with COVID-19. The employee, working out of Metro HQ, was last in the office on the 18th, and is now hospitalized. Two Metro employees are in the hospital currently (one previously released).

NEW: #wmata reports a 17th employee confirmed positive with COVID-19. The agency was notified on the 6th, info not released until today. The employee worked in the Rail Operations Control at agency HQ & is recovering at home.

Indeed, after a late update yesterday, #wmata added 2 more reported cases this morning, including a depot clerk that works at the "pending" location, was last at work on "pending" and had "pending" close contacts at work. Numbers don't include contractors.

UPDATE: #wmata reported 6 new covid-19 cases for a new total of 40.

14 of the 40 employees have been bus operators, mostly out of Shepherd Parkway division.

The newest case, a worker in the CTF rail control center, is listed as hospitalized. Image
