Everything about Rita akka is a demonstration of what life strives to teach us – that it has a purpose. Rita cannot hear or speak, is a widow. Her daughter, aged 17 has left home to be with her grandmother. The 42yo has loneliness writ large on her life, but won’t surrender to it
Rita akka loosely translates to elder sister. However, some call her oomachi, a derogatory term for those with speaking disabilities – wakes up and diligently goes about her garbage collection job. Sometimes though, she does complain of physical pain at the end of a hard day.

The situation with education is so different in non-premier colleges:
1. Students buy degree projects
2. Write their practical exam of computer programming by just copy-pasting
3. Nobody tells them about the opportunities available outside
4. They end up not getting a job, not because of the college but because of themselves
5. They don't have proper skills or they were waiting for someone to spoon-feed them or guide them
6. They spread a wrong message to upcoming batches
7. A computer engineering student can't even use Gmail (Yes!)
8. Students basically copy-paste the resume including career objective and skills
9. They don't know about any platform like LinkedIn, Github

One big reason we don't have enough masks is that not only did China stop exporting them completely after COVID-19, China went and "bought up much of the rest of the world's supply." We should have ramped up domestic production in January but we didn't.😢 nytimes.com/2020/03/13/bus…
Sadly all those (well-meaning) posts from healthcare experts on how masks won't work for ordinary people because they won't wear them correctly likely encouraged hoarding even more. That was never a message that would work. No wonder I'm constantly seeing online ads for masks!

Nobody votes *for* anything anymore, only against. It’s a bit like politics has entered the equivalent of the zero-loser-bound/liquidity trap regime in economics.

To act like you know what’s going on is to set a nonzero interest rate.
Damn this analogy has legs. Since nobody actually has a clue, any credible political plan can on,y offer so low an “interest rate” that people prefer to hold on to their political agency by voting for “liquidity trap politicians” who offer either no plan or obvious nonsense.
It’s a useless analogy though since nobody has really solved the economics version of the problem either. QE just pushed up stock prices without meaningfully stimulating the economy. Buying bonds without reference to interest rate is basically taking a country “private”.
