FIGHTING COVID-19 IN KERICHO.. A THREAD
I have this afternoon directed the Kericho Water and Sanitation Company (KEWASCO) to suspend with immediate effect any disconnection of water to any home or institution in Kericho County as a result of non-payment of water bills until the
Coronavirus scare has been dealt with.
The company should instead engage with the clients and agree on a payment schedule towards the clearance of the same into the future.
Any disconnections that have already been undertaken will be restored by this directive.
This is in line with our efforts towards ensuring that there is enhanced access to water to promote handwashing across the county.
As I had announced earlier, we have also set up 132 hand washing hotspots wiyy soap and water across the county to support this process.
I call on Kenya Power to also step in and support Kenyans by suspending power interruption during this period.
Let us stay safe. Stay home. Maintain social distancing and wash your hands with soap and water or sanitize with an alcohol based sanitizer. #COVID19 #COVID19Pandemic

I have signed into law the QUARANTINE AND RESTRICTION OF MOVEMENT REGULATIONS 2020.

It comes into force on 30th March, 2020 and will remain in force till 30th April, 2020, or for such extended period as may be announced from time to time.

Some of the provisions of the regulations include:

1. Commercial tricycles to carry not more than two passengers only.

2. Mini buses to carry one passenger per row.

3. Private vehicles to carry not more than two persons at the back seat and one on the front seat.
4. Public Parks, Shops, Eateries, Clubs, Restaurants, Markets, shall remain closed except those for the sale of foodstuffs, drugs and other essential commodities.

5. All public burials, weddings,and other forms of public gatherings are prohibited.

#Thread The severe disruption caused by Covid 19 globally has escalated daily over the past week, and resulted in increasingly stringent measures to safeguard populations around the world including the Jamaican population.
The Covid crisis will certainly have adverse economic implications for the world and for Jamaica.

The good news, however, is the the Government of Jamaica is providing a $25 billion stimulus, the largest stimulus in Jamaica’s history that could not come at a better time.
Pumping $25 billion into the economy at a time of uncertainty like this helps to support economic activity in Jamaica.

The reduction in GCT by 1.5% from 16.5% to 15% puts $14 billion back into the hands of consumers and supports consumption.

I had a more basic question: does Ring actually stop crime? Does it deter crime, as the company claims?
