I find the timing interesting because it followed the FISC response to OIG memo that found 29 out of 29 FISA apps didn't follow the Woods Procedures for accuracy.

So the Senior Counsel to the division responsible for FISA got fired right after the FIS Court order regarding the failure of that division to even ensure that Woods Files were completed & retained. The same division Sally Yates exempted from OIG audits!
Atkinson was also previously the Deputy Chief & Acting Chief of the US Attorney for DC's Public Corruption unit. The one that should have been draining the Swamp.
Even better, the President bypassed a requirement that an ICIG dismissal occur with 30 days notice, but placing Atkinson on administrative leave for the 30 days. So he is gone immediately.
The dismissal of ICIG Atkinson is part of a broader shake up of the Intel Community being lead by Acting DNI Richard Grenell. Another example of President Trump using an Acting leader of an agency to play bad cop & clean house until making a permanent appointment!
This was also a big shake up of the Inspector General community too! 5 new IG's nominated! CIA, DOD, Education, TVA, & Corona Virus stimulus IG. All very Swampy departments! With a 6th IG appointment needed to replace Atkinson.
The replacement of Acting DOD IG Fine is very interesting. He is formerly DOJ IG who left under Obama. He was named this week by other IGs to lead the Corona Virus accountability committee to serve the IG function with that stimulus money.
I hope we soon get to see the transcript of Atkinson's closed door testimony to Schiff during the impeachment investigation. I am sure it will be very interesting!

This is funny, they quote former ICIG Charles McCullough stating Atkinson "messed with the bull & got the horns." Which is kind of ironic as McCullough was allegedly fired for investigating Hillary's email server...
I find the Tennessee Valley Authority IG appointment interesting. TVA has been a Swampy venue as long as it has existed.
