2. George #Pell was a consultor to Bishop Mulkearns - one of inner circle of priests whom the Bishop consulted on priestly appointments and movements. No-one, including Pell, argued Mulkearns didn't know about what Ridsdale was doing. There is enormous evidence to support that.
3. What #Pell did say is that Mulkearns kept the truth from his consultors. Pell gave this evidence from Rome in 2016. He did so bc he was, his Vatican doctor (Dr Polisca, who declares medical medical miracles to say someone's a saint), wrote, too ill to fly back to Australia.
4. But in November 2017, the Royal Commission rejected the argument Mulkearns lied to his consultors. Of one meeting #Pell attended, it found: It is inconceivable that the consultors did not know by this time, given the usual practice & the general knowledge in the community.”
5. Re a further meeting #Pell attended where Bishop resolved, again, to move Ridsdale: “We do not accept that Bishop Mulkearns lied to his consultors… It is inconceivable in these circumstances that Bishop Mulkearns deceived his consultors by not telling them the true reason."
6. Further, the Commissioners added: "There would be little utility in doing so. The secret was out in at least two parishes by 1978. Moreover, his efforts to deceive the consultors who did not know the true reasons would have been apparent to those who did."
7. And, they said: "[Mulkearns] would have been exposing himself to some of his consultors as being deceptive, which he is not likely to have done unless there was good reason to. Here there was no good reason because knowledge of the problem with Ridsdale was so widespread.”
8. This is all in the public domain, so I am not breaching anything by tweeting it. What is not, is the redacted findings in relation to #Pell himself, who argued the opposite of what the Commission found. Those arguments have clearly been rejected. There are more redactions too.
9. On Tuesday, Pell's appeal process is over, whatever High Court decides. The Royal Commission findings in relation to #Pell, Mulkearns, Ridsdale are of intense public interest. Not least to people I know who had family members -Ridsdale victims - who suicided bc of the pain.
10. Then there are all the other Ridsdale victims, who must live with pain of what that monster did to them, knowing Church knew for years & years before he got to them. They want this report made public. They didn't have to be abused. It's up to the Attorney-General to release.
11. Attorney-General is @cporterwa & PM is @ScottMorrisonMP. Mr Morrison gave moving apology to victims of child sexual abuse. They have power to remove redactions. Royal Commission sat for 5 years. On Tuesday, there's no reason its full report can't be seen. It's time. #Pell
