What is the impact of #COVID19 on mobility in different economies? A thread!
Low-income countries in Africa and Latin America show that COVID-19 disrupts the mobility to #transit the most. In Asia, mobility in low-income countries for all destinations is highly affected. (1/4) Image
Comparing mobility impact due to #coronavirus for low, middle and high-income countries shows that the overall change is the lowest in the poorest countries. It can be interpreted that people in low-income countries have less possibilities to change their travel behavior. (2/4) Image
Data from a week later (5 April) shows that the #COVID19 impact on #mobility has increased! Almost every income group and every region experiences the strongest negative impact on the mobility to transit stations. (3/4) Image
While middle- and high-income countries see an increase of over 15% for residential mobility (#StayAtHome), people in low-income countries need to continue their commutes and travel patterns. (4/4) Image
Low-income countries have still less mobility restrictions due to less confirmed cases of #COVID19. Countries like France, Italy, Spain and UK had a high number of cases, thus quickly implemented strict lock downs, resulting in sharp decreases of #mobility. #StayHome Image
