The following content is a summary of an article published @spiegelonline:
German Chancellor #Merkel announced a while ago that her decision to slowly lift restrictions will depend on a report by @Leopoldina (the Academy of Sciences and similar to @theNASciences) @maddow
Here are the academy's main suggestions that give us a sense of what lies ahead of all of us - no matter if you are German or not - in the coming months:
1. A second wave of #COVID19 infections has to be avoided by all means. We have to continue to follow basic rules like social distancing and increased hygiene. Where appropriate social distancing is not possible, masks have to be worn.
#Masks4All #SocialDistancing
2. The status of infections and immunity among the population has to be tested via random sample surveys.
#broadtesting
3. Development of #apps to better track (in real time) the rate, number and location of new infections. This will be implemented on a voluntary basis and to comply with strict EU-data laws, all data will be anonymous and erased after 4 weeks.

4. Schools should open as soon as possible due to online-teaching exacerbating social inequality. Elementary schools will open first, starting with older students who are about to graduate to one of three school types (this is specific to the German school system).
5. Students have to wear masks and classes should not be larger than 15 students. This applies to elementary and middle school students.
6. High school students should be allowed to be more self-determined in their studies (using online tools and materials in addition to regular teaching). No information given on class size restrictions or what precautions are in place for teachers.
7. Daycare centers should only offer "emergency services" for those who cannot find alternative accommodations for their children. Also people working in essential jobs and businesses (like healthcare workers, police, etc.) can continue to use the daycare centers.
8. Universities should continue with online teaching until the end of the summer term. The fall term in Germany (called the winter term) does not start until October 1st. That means, the earliest date that universities can go back to regular teaching is October 1st.
9. Bottomline: New infections have to be stable and only occur in low numbers. Only then can we slowly ease restrictions. Masks will be required (for example in grocery stores). To make wearing masks a requirement, they have to become available in the billions.
10. Whoever can work from home, will have to continue working from home. Social distancing will remain essential at any workplace. Employers might have to introduce shift work.
11. Train and plane travel will be possible, but only with enough distance between passengers. New booking systems will be needed to implement this (and I assume that traveling will become more expensive).
12. Large concerts, sporting events, etc. will only be possible after a vaccine becomes available. Smaller events (like going to the theater where visitors can be sitting in distance to each other) will be possible.
