3,106,845 passengers travelled through Heathrow Airport in March alone without tests or restrictions during the worst pandemic in our lifetimes.
The average monthly passenger numbers are usually around 6.5 million, so it's only a 50% drop. And that's just one airport.
This is even worse when you consider that the UK is an island, which should give it good natural geographic defense, it should not be one of the worst affected countries, so zero-measures at airports till this very day is a huge miscalculation.
ITV reported that there is currently no coronavirus testing of passengers arriving from overseas and according to One Border Force officer "workers at Heathrow don't have enough safety equipment to protect them" and the "airport is not safe".

How can you wage a war against the virus with open borders, no measures will be effective even under a total lockdown for months if 15,000 untested, unchecked people are still entering freely into the country every day, and that's just ONE AIRPORT.

Even third world and war affected countries in the Middle East have implemented more resolute measures with regards to air-travel and checking. Heathrow airport doesn't even have hand sanitizer for key workers, so zero-measures airport policy is a huge blunder.
Flights from New York, Spain and Italy are still landing in Heathrow without screening for passengers or checks, if you want to protect the NHS and the country then more diligence is needed, because it's no use having a lockdown with completely open borders.
Airports must be one of the frontlines in the fight against the virus, most major countries have quarantined passengers, conducted tests & made wearing masks compulsory. To think over 3 million people coming in every month with no checks renders lockdown pointless.
This didn't need to happen if adequent measures were taken

More lives will unfortunately be lost unless the government gets a grip on the airports and provides the necessary equipment to immigration/airport workers and staff, they've been left to fend for themselves for months, as things "continue as normal"
