Ashtiyani collaborated with Henry Corbin on an influential four volumes of philosophical texts from 1600-1800 in #Iran ashtiyani.irهمکاری-استاد-اشتیانی-وکربن
He not only edited texts but published an important volume in #existence in #MullaSadra as well as the #Avicennian and #mystical traditions and an intellectual biography of #MullaSadra #IslamicPhilosophy 3/ ashtiyani.irشرح-حال-و-آراي-فلسفي-ملاصدرا/
He was also know for his sense of humour and his circles of friends and students in #Mashhad 4/
In 1944 he moved to #Qum and studied the usual course in the seminary but in Tehran he also attended philosophy classes (on Asfar of #MullaSadra) with Mirza Mahdi Mazandarani (1878-1958) who studied with Tehran philosophers Mirza Hashim Ashkivari and Mirza Hashim Kirmanshahi 5/
Mazandarani used to teach in Madrasa -ye Sadr in Tehran the works of #HadiSabzavari (d. 1873), #MullaSadra and others 6/
He also studied law and legal theory with #Boroujerdi (d. 1962) in Qum and #MuhsinalHakikm (d. 1970) in Najaf for a decade 7/

Ashtiyani at times was v verbose and partial in his analysis - but to take one example there are few histories of philosophy and mysticism in Iran in recent decades that even come close to his introduction to #ShawahidRububiya of #MullaSadra 9/
