1. I explained, to a R, how treating employees w/ respect, providing a living wage & medical insurance, & other family/work balance benefits keeps employee satisfaction higher & decrease the churn of retraining new employees = saving money.

He said I sounded like Karl Marx.
2. Of course, the dig that I sound like Karl Marx was to insinuate that my "liberal ideas" were purely socialist or communist in nature. -
When I pointed out to him that my Republican father taught me these employee values while we worked the farm the guy had nothing to say.
3. For obvious reasons, calling me Karl Marx doesn't bother me as much now then it would have in the 80s, but I'd like to know something. When did "Treat your employees like shit & spend even more money to retrain new employees" become the campaign slogan for Republicans?
4. It seems many, if not most, Republicans have no clue how to run a business. If you have a constant burn & churn employee rotation, not only are you spending a shit ton of money on retraining, but your customer satisfaction & employee morale goes down = losing money.
5. Each business must make a profit. No one is arguing that point. I propose that making a profit is easier when employees are satisfied at work. I'm not expecting a company to install a company gym (great idea though), but providing basic human benefits should be the standard.
6. One thing that some bosses seem to fail to understand is that humans are creatures of habit. We humans will stay at a shity job for yrs just because it is close to home, or the boss allows a long lunch. We will put up with a ton of crap before we quit. Quitting is hard.
7. People know it's a pain in the ass to find a new job, wait for a new paycheck, leave old favorite co-workers, meet new coworkers, create new passwords, learn new systems, etc. We humans mostly hate change, & a new job is a bunch of new changes all at once.
8. But on the other hand, everyone has their limits.

People will quit when they are no longer valued, respected, or basic needs are not met.

Key chains & coffee mugs don't cut it when the CEO owns 4 mansions & an island.

Stop with the gimics or lose more employees & talent.
9. Companies need to invest in people.

Start with outreach days in the community. Go in the high schools. Then, make better decisions when hiring people, & provide great training, mentorship, a living wage, benefits, room to grow, & a chance to move out if that's the way up.
10. A company will pay out labor money either way, so it's up to them how that money is spent.

1. On high turnover, low employee morale, & low customer satisfaction.

Or....

2. On building a long term team that not only respects the CEO but also respects the company mission.
11. I know many Republicans think treating employees w/ respect & giving them a little bit more satisfaction in life is a far-left ideal, but if my farming, fishing, welding, carpenter, Republican father treated his employees with respect, I think it's an idea worth copying. /End
