per the same story, the only reason we haven't really studied any of this is because the American military didn't want to look like it had gone full Fox Mulder
tbh I still haven't fully recovered from our nation's paper of record reporting that #UFOs are real 28 months ago, but if you're seeing it in the news today it's because the Pentagon has confirmed that the footage leaked to the NYT back then was legit. The truth is out there.
also when the former Senator from the state where the NYT has confirmed that pieces of at least one UFO are warehoused tells you that this footage only "scratches the surface" of what we have on alien spacecraft visiting our planet this seems... news-ish?
ICYMI above, the Pentagon--yes, THAT Pentagon--believes that we are incapable of defending ourselves given what we know of extant alien tech. This in combination with Sen. Reid's passing mention of "material" means (pls stay w/me here) that we have or know of *alien weapons*
There's a serious argument to be made that the X-Files did more to set this research back than any coverup could have by portraying belief in extraterrestrial visitors as inherently kooky. (Statistically speaking, believing that we are alone in the universe is *way* kookier)
