10 million testing "kits", of oligos? But why? Who gets these? Are all labs now using this test (ORF1 I believe, which is a good test if the CCDC assay but so is CDC-N1 and HKU-ORF1 and Berlin E). Did labs ask for this? So many questions.
The BGI ORF1ab RT-PCR kits do include RT-PCR mix and oligos, but I'm pretty sure they don't include the staff to increase daily testing by 3-fold. It would be historic if we all changed our current setups over at this stage, to the same test, across Australia.
And I presume we'll not purchase in one hit. These kits have a shelf life. I don't know if anyone's noticed but there is no way we're getting another exponential peak without some very bad decisions occurring in Aus (which I doubt will happen).
