THREAD

1)
May 3 was #WorldPressFreedomDay. It is quite interesting that certain Iranians who consider themselves “journalists” did not say a word about the Iranian regime’s crackdown against true journalists inside #Iran.

Why? They are Iran apologists/lobbyists.

#WPFD2020
2)
One example is @NegarMortazavi. She was more concerned about pushing Tehran’s talking points on U.S. sanctions against Iran.

Of course, nothing else is expected from someone who has such close relations with @JZarif.
3)
Another example is @farnazfassihi. Again, not one word about #Iran’s crackdown against true journalists inside the country. Yet she eagerly RTs anti-Trump tweets to score cheap political points.

And, Fassihi is quite fond of Iran's now dead chief terrorist Qassem Soleimani.
4)
Another example is @hdagres. Again, not one word about #Iran’s crackdown against true journalists inside the country.

Yet she actively pushes Zarif’s talking points & portrays a carefully-prepared “soft” image of Iranian regime officials.
5)
Another example is @jrezaian. Again, not one word about #Iran’s crackdown against true journalists inside the country. Just one RT. Yet he is eager to score cheap political points against President Trump.

And in an attempt to save face, he talks about non-Iranian journalists.
6)
And it’s always interesting to see Rezaian, a man held as a prisoner by the regime in Iran, promote a policy of appeasement vis-a-vis the ruthless mullahs' regime by citing Al-Monitor, a known pro-appeasement website.

This is why I describe Rezaian as an Iran apologist.
7)
Another example is @GEsfandiari. Again, not one word about Iran’s crackdown against true journalists inside the country.

Yet she rushes to the regime’s support in time of need, such as accusing protesters of “vandalism” to whitewash the regime’s bloodbath.
8)
Another example is @BahmanKalbasi. Again, not a word about Iran’s crackdown against true journalists inside the country.

Yet he was quite active in pushing anti-Trump criteria on this occasion.
9)
To make a long story short, these are just a few examples of Iran apologists under the cover of “journalists.”

There's no need to take my word for it.

Listen to a former Iranian regime spy chief explain how the regime uses “reporters” & “journalists.”
10)
Finally, this thread sheds light on the plight of true journalists in Iran who are under the boots of the regime’s ongoing crackdown and oppressive measures.
