India is the largest milk producer, largest jute and pulses producer, 2nd largest in sugar cane, cotton, groundnut, fruits, vegetables and fisheries, 3rd in cereals. Indian farmer has really endured and made sure that he would give us the highest yield - FM #AatmaNirbharDesh

It goes to the credit of our farmers that they almost concluded rabi crop harvest, many states have been successful in procurement, despite lockdown - FM #NirmalaSitiharaman #AatmaNirbharDesh

FM @nsitharaman recalls measures taken by Govt. to support farmers during #COVID19 lockdown

✅₹ 74,300 crore Minimum Support Price purchases during lockdown
✅₹ 18,700 crore transfer to farmers' bank accounts
✅₹ 6,400 crore PM Fasal Bima Yojana payment

Milk was being thrown on streets, since consumers were unable to buy it during lockdown, during this time, 560 lakh litres/day was procured by cooperatives, extra 111 crore litres bought, farmers got paid ₹ 4,100 crore

A new scheme was introduced to give lower interest to dairy cooperatives, the interest subvention scheme will continue and will put additional ₹ 5,000 crore in hands of 2 crore farmers

All #COVID19 related deadline extensions relating to fisheries activities, many of them involving overseas contracts, have been honoured. Very many measures which will help marine and coastal farmers have been undertaken as promised. - FM #NirmalaSitiharaman #AatmaNirbharDesh

Registration of 242 shrimp hatcheries and rearing hatcheries has been extended for 3 months, operation of marine capture fisheries and aquaculture has been relaxed to cover inland fisheries

₹ 1 lakh crore fund being created for Farmer Producer Organizations, aggregators, primary agriculture cooperative societies for strengthening farm-gate infrastructure such as cold chains, post harvest management infrastructure.

Private entrepreneurs, startups who look to facilitate by procuring from farmers and seek to create value addition for the global market, but don't have infrastructure, will benefit from the ₹ 1 lakh crore fund

₹ 10,000 crore Fund for Micro Food Enterprises (MFEs)

Marketing assistance to help local products create global impact, focus on organic, nutritional and health & wellness products, cluster-based approach

Will benefit 2 lakh MFEs

The ₹ 10,000 crore Micro Food Enterprises Fund will focus on health and wellness products in which India has a great strength, on women, SCs, STs and where possible on aspirational districts

₹ 20,000 crore for fishermen, to address critical gaps in fisheries value chain

Will create 55 lakh jobs
Will double India's exports to reach ₹ 1 lakh crore
New fishing vessels can be given, harbours can be built

The ₹ 20,000 crore allocation for fisheries sector will lead to additional fish production of ~ 70 lakh tonnes in 5 years, the principle is to empower people, not to give entitlements alone (which will be given where they are due)

We want to ensure 100% vaccination of nearly 53 crore animals, a livestock size which is among the largest in the world

Despite #COVID19 lockdown, 1.5 crore cows and buffaloes have been tagged and vaccinated

₹ 15,000 crore Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund is being established, this will help private investment in dairy processing, value addition and cattle feed infrastructure, niche industrial plants too can be set up

₹ 4,000 crore additional outlay for promotion of herbal cultivation

To help cover 10 lakh hectare under herbal cultivation in next two years, this will generate at least ₹ 5,000 crore additional income for farmers

₹ 4,000 crore additional outlay for herbal cultivation will also enable a corridor of medicinal and herbal plants over 800 hectares area to be grown on both sides of the Ganga, in line with the vision of PM @narendramodi

We hear of disappearing honey bee population leading to ⬇️cross pollination agents

Citing this, FM #NirmalaSitharaman announces ₹ 500 crore for beekeeping initiatives, will benefit 2 lakh beekeepers in rural areas, creating ripple effect on rural economy #AatmaNirbharDesh

8️⃣
₹ 500 crore to address farm supply chain disruption due to #COVID19 lockdown, wherein storage & transport are given at 50% less cost

The 6-month pilot scheme will be expanded and extended, in order to address breaks in value chain

#EssentialCommoditiesAct 1955, brought in days of scarcity, will be amended to completely deregulate stock limits for cereals, edible oils, oil seeds, pulses, onions and potatoes; stock limits will be applied only in exceptional situations

Amendment to #EssentialCommoditiesAct will enable farmers to get better prices, no stock limit will be applicable to processors since today value addition happens at door step of processors, farmers' prices will not be affected due to uncertainties

We will bring in a Central law to give farmers a choice to sell produce at an attractive price, remove barriers on inter state trade, to enable them to engage in e-trading, remove restrictions mandating sale to particular licensees

Govt. has been taking steps to ensure clearing pending payments from Central Govt. organizations to MSMEs, by rigorously following up with every government department and PSU. This process is a continuous one.
