(2) The CDC values paint a picture of an epidemic wave about to end, with only 2,311 deaths for the week ending 5/9/2020.

This so-called "weekly" number is little more than the United States daily death rate.
(3) The CDC dataset was updated on 5/15/2020 and is available here. Download it yourself; you do the math.

(4) The @COVID19Tracking Project contacts each state independently to construct its counts. Their trend paints a very different picture that is consistent with the @nytimes and the JHU CSSE counts.

(9) The problem is @CDCDirector Redfield drawing conclusions from differences between weeks with highly incomplete data, rushing to have a graphics team turn it into a 15 step animation, and then tweeting the misinformation with glee?

(10) Here is a response I received showing how the data that Dr. Redfield is presenting will change as more deaths are recorded. Death certificates for COVID19 patients have come in late every week for many weeks.
