Of 105 #COVID19 patients, 31% had dilation of the RV based on an echocardiogram. Of these, 41% died by the end of the study period, compared to 11% of those without RV enlargement.

On multivariate analysis (statistical analysis), right ventricular enlargement was the only variable significantly associated with mortality in patients with severe #COVID19 (odds ratio 4.5, 95% confidence internal 1.5-13.7, p = 0.005).

⚠️Good news! 1st peer-reviewed report of a #coronavirus vaccine study shows promising results in 108 participants:

▶️No serious safety signals
▶️78% in low-dose, 92% in mid-dose, and 100% in high-dose groups developed neutralizing antibodies or a T-cell response to #SARSCoV2.
Based on studies of those who recovered from #COVID19, the spike protein on the surface of the #coronavirus is a key target of the immune system.

This vaccine uses an adenovirus—it cannot replicate but expresses the #coronavirus spike protein.

This report from a phase 1 study is encouraging, but there’s still a long way to go. That said, we now have MULTIPLE #vaccine shots on goal, and I’m increasingly optimistic that we will eventually have an effective #coronavirus vaccine.🤞🏼

This huge study in @TheLancet found ZERO BENEFIT of #hydroxychloroquine or #chloroquine, but people treated with either drug were MORE LIKELY to develop a type of potentially FATAL irregular heart rhythm (ventricular arrhythmia), that can lead to sudden cardiac death.💥

🚨BREAKING: early data from Moderna’s #coronavirus vaccine study shows that 8 of 8 participants—in whom antibodies were measured—developed neutralizing antibodies at levels reaching or exceeding levels seen in those who naturally recovered from #COVID19.

Neutralizing antibodies bind to the #coronavirus, disabling it from infecting human cells. "Not only did the antibody bind to the virus, but it prevented the virus from infecting the cells.”

These early results have not yet been peer-reviewed/published, but are encouraging.🤞🏼
It’s not yet been proven whether natural infection to #coronavirus confers immunity to re-infection, and so similarly, it's not clear whether vaccination confers immunity.

We are constantly learning something new about this virus, but these results are encouraging!
