Obviously the government now regard #CumGate as closed and are going to stop answering questions on this. So I want to make 100% sure I understand what they are saying has happened.

#Cummings’ wife fell ill with suspected covid so understandably he felt it best to return to work. Later that day, he grew concerned he & his wife would become so ill they would no longer be able to look after each other or their son, & returned home.
But he wasn’t able have himself and his family tested, as other government bigwigs had done. So Cummings reasoned his wife definitely maybe had covid (despite not having symptoms) and if she definitely maybe had covid, he could definitely maybe have it to.
After rereading the guidelines he helped to draft, he remembered that if you had a child you didn’t have to follow them to the letter if there were exceptional circumstances.
Realising there was no one in the London area who could have helped them, despite family & friends living close by and having the entire government at his disposal - Cummings decided they were indeed in mortal danger - but didn’t tell the government or ask for help
Believing his wife had covid & that he would also get it, he put his wife, his child and the virus in some kind of super car and drove across the country without stopping to stay on his parent’s farm, where his nieces has offered themselves as tribute.
It was very lucky that he managed to make this drive while not being ill because that would have been really dangerous, but he did become very ill the following day.
However, no childcare was actually needed during this time despite Cumming’s whole family becoming ill, an ambulance had to be called to take his child to hospital, and him nearly going blind.
Thankfully both his son and his wife tested negative for Coronavirus, but Dom was really ill and in bed. During this time he did manage to have a few walks around his family’s grounds, which may have given the impression he was out for a walk whilst being incredibly ill.
Desperate to get back to work, despite having been bed bound and unable to see, Dom finally got some medical advice and decided to check if his eyes were working again by driving his family 30 miles to Bernard Castle.
By a spectacular coincidence, it was also his wife’s birthday, which may have been why she didn’t offer to drive instead. They stopped to have a sit down, which had the unfortunate effect of looking like he was having a day out to passers by instead of an essential sit down
Having driven 30 miles to check his eyes worked, and being unable to work remotely & there being no option to ask for a car to be sent to pick him up, cummings drove the whole family back down to London where he finally managed to arrange some childcare & returned to work.
Both he and his wife then wrote about their experiences with Coronavirus but thought it best not to mention they hadn’t been at their home, just in case this caused a socially distanced mob to march on them in Durham.
