➡️ Go with a trusted friend or org.
➡️ Wear a mask!
➡️ Pack lightly.
➡️ Bring ID, prescriptions in original bottles & medical supplies you may need. #KnowYourRights Image
➡️ Bring WATER (chilled is better) to flush eyes in case of gas/pepper spray.
➡️ Write 2 phone numbers on your body: personal contact & number of local legal support (@NLGnews list: nlg.org/chapters/)

➡️ Try to remain calm. Do not resist or touch any police officers.
➡️ You will be searched.
➡️ You have right to remain silent, USE IT! Do not share anything more than name, DOB, address.

➡️ Held on bail? There are many bail funds that can be contacted by yr lawyer or contact, incl. @LGBTQ_Freedom
➡️ You do NOT have to disclose medical info like #HIV status to police!

➡️ Police cannot legally search you to assign you a gender! 🗣️ "I do not consent to this search"
➡️ Be prepared to be jailed with people of your gender assigned at birth regardless of your wishes or ID. Image
➡️ If jailed: Ask to be placed with the gender where you will feel safest. Ask to be moved for safety concerns.
➡️ Try to enlist others detained to support your requests.
➡️ You can request placement in unit for vulnerable individuals; but could mean risky isolation cell. Image
Once released?
➡️ Write down EVERYTHING you can remember! Descriptions, badge numbers, etc.
➡️ Take pics of injuries!

TX AG @KenPaxtonTX's opinion that gender-affirming care for trans youth is "child abuse" is not worth the paper it is written on. It’s not new law. It is beyond shameful for him & @GovAbbott to politicize the health of transgender youth for personal gain. lambdalegal.org/news/tx_202202…
We know this must be scary for caregivers to trans youth, and trans youth themselves. But we want to make it very clear that the law has not changed, and they are not alone. We are here to support parents, guardians, and the youth receiving the life-saving health care they need.

#BREAKING: @LambdaLegal, @AthleteAlly, and @WomensSportsFdn filed an amicus brief on behalf of nearly 200 athletes in women’s sports including @BillieJeanKing and @mPinoe in support of trans youth and the @ACLU’s case challenging Idaho law banning trans girls from sports.
