Like 15,000 people in #yeg, I attended the #BLM rally on Friday. As an attendee to listen & learn.
Had @KayceeMaduYEG spoken, I would have listened to him with an open heart & mind as well. Because I am certain he has a lot to say about his own experiences. #ableg

I also would have liked to hear him speak so he could express some kind of commitment on behalf of the Premier and his party to listen, support & take action against racism in Alberta. #ableg
Neither I nor any of my @abndpcaucus had any say in who spoke at the rally. Why would we? This was a rally put on by the hardworking grassroots organizers of the BLM movement in #yeg.
But Mr. Madu chose not to attend. And he is free to make that choice. But he is not free to accuse me or my colleagues of being the ones to block him from speaking. Especially when he knows that’s not true. And none stopped him from attending. #ableg
And I will not accept him dismissing all the hard work of the organizers & the people that actually showed up to listen - even if they didn’t have the mic - in a derogatory & divisive way & suggest there was some kind “leftist” agenda behind it that we were part of. #ableg
If Mr. Madu truly wants to know why the organizers made their decision about his participation, he should speak with them. And better yet, insist that the Premier - the Leader of his party - meet with them. Because *that* is the important conversation that is needed. #ableg
