All over Alberta, families & children are paying for the #UCP's decision to prioritize a $4.7 billion corporate handout over Albertans. It's hard to keep track of the communities losing parent link programs, family support services & jobs as a result. Here's just a few:

The Minister will respond by saying that decisions haven't yet been made about ongoing funding, but in reality, the complicated new requirements, restrictions on available funding & incredible uncertainty - means many programs are already closing or will close imminently. #ableg
The overall budget for these services has been decreased by $12 million & these organizations must now serve a wider age range of children (0 to 18 years, instead of 0 to 6 years). #ableg
Parent link programs are closing. More will not get funding. Jobs will be lost. Families will lose out. But profitable corporations? They're walking away with a sweet handout. These are the priorities of this gov't. #ableg

Last night, I cried in my car. After a long night of hearing from passionate stakeholders & debating the toxic and regressive Bill 207, we managed to stop the Bill in Committee. It was a victory for many of us, but I cried. /1 #ableg
I cried because I was overwhelmed by the integrity & passion of those who spoke about the devastation the Bill would create. I cried because it was a long week (& months) of heartbreaking attacks on our democracy & the most vulnerable by an entitled gov't. /2 #ableg
I cried because it was finally - finally - a small victory, but I can't believe that this Bill was able to come to light in 2019 and that we still have to fight to protect the most basic human rights of women, LGBTQ2S+ & trans people, & those seeking dignity in dying. /3 #ableg

The motion is weak and the basis is LOLable, but my suspicion is that the judge will grant it (though likely for less than 3 weeks)

Defendants will argue the burden is on Plaintiff to show good cause (the motion doesn't do that), plus ongoing harassment

Positive for the Defendants. He gives their attorneys lots of usable material

A good rule of thumb as y'all see an assortment of "bUt ThEy LiEd UnDeR oAtH" tweets from conVics is that they're typically projecting – accusing others of the things they themselves or R.Broly have done

Donald's 1st appearance, as a scene-stealing supporting actor in this Silly Symphony cartoon. He is paired w/Peter Pig, who will never have a role this good again. DD becomes an instant star, while Peter is demoted to background player
I think they know they have something here; they save Donald's intro for last, and give him a great entrance.

Also, WLH's singing voice is perfect, and Peter Pig's speaking voice is a true nightmare. You can feel his cartoon career ending the moment he opens his mouth.

2. In other words, Kenney isn’t just proposing to waste AB’s $ on lawyers to fight a legal loser: he’s demanding that Ottawa collect carbon charges in Alberta, not just SK & ON. #abpoli
3. I’m not kidding. The fight Kenney wants to wage is to demand Ottawa extend its carbon price collection to Alberta, instead of exempting Alberta from Ottawa’s tax in favour of a made-in-Alberta design that accounts for Alberta’s unique circumstances.
