🚨 After last week's court decision to release children from family detention centers w/o their parents, we need to remind folks there are real, irreparable effects to family separation.

That's why we're releasing a comprehensive new report, "The U.S. Gov't Kidnapped My Son."

At the height of Trump’s “Zero Tolerance” policy, RAICES worked w/families who were eventually reunited after suffering Family Separation 1.0 in the summer of 2018.

The report details the experiences of these families & their subsequent imprisonment at the Karnes facility.

One father described his first time speaking to his son on the phone after they were separated:

“The only thing he told me was ‘why did you leave me?’ Those were his first words when he heard me and it made me cry.”

The dad went on to tell us, “At times [my son] hallucinates, of the traumas he saw when we were separated. It affected him deeply. My son of seven years was detained in a prison. Imagine that, at seven years old. It is something irreparable.”

Families separated in 2018 shared their stories w/the hope that these atrocities would be KNOWN & never repeated.
