In protest of being held indefinitely without charge or trial, 6 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli prisons are on hunger strike. Their lives are in grave danger. Media, politicians, so-called rights defenders, etc. must act fast. #FreeThemAll
Kayed Fasfous, who is on his NINETY-FIRST day of hunger strike, recently had his appeal to be released rejected by an Israeli occupation court.

Solidarity with these brave and steadfast Palestinian hunger strikers!

To protest their collective punishment after last week’s escapes, 1,380 prisoners (1/4 of the entire Palestinian prisoner population!) have chosen a time-honored form of struggle: the hunger strike.

(thread)
This past week, in an attempt to deflect the blows to its illusion of invincibility and stop the momentum of Palestinian resistance, the Israeli prison service has intentionally made the lives of Palestinian prisoners miserable.
Israeli prisons have raided Palestinians' cells, physically abused them, denied them basic necessities, closed canteens and laundry rooms, moved prisoners to solitary confinement, cancelled all family visits and phone calls, and more.

U.S. & Israeli empire tremble against Palestinians armed only with sheer determination to be free, & a spoon.

@palyouthmvmt protested powerfully at the Israeli embassy to #FreeThemAll, demonstrating against carceral violence & for steadfast solidarity with Palestinians.
"One day all the prisons that have stood in Palestine will fall, & in their place our people will live lives painted by the colors of freedom & dignity."
6 Palestinian prisoners—Mahmoud Arda, Mohammed Arda, Yacoub Qadri, Ayham Kamamji, Zakaria al-Zubaidi, Monadel Naifat—who freed themselves make us hopeful.

District 8 for Justice organizer & USCPR advocacy & organizing fellow Alex reminded us that prisoner should be free.

Israel has recaptured four of the six Palestinian political prisoners who self-liberated themselves using spoons against nuclear weapons and grotesque racial domination. #PalestinianPrisoners #TheGreatEscape #FreeThemAll
While Palestinian hearts weigh heavy at this news, they are also irreversibly uplifted by an indefatigable will to be free. 104 years of imperial sponsored setter colonization and here we are fighting still and far from disappeared as the settlers and their sponsors conspired.
The world witnessed this prison break & should b reminded that Israel holds captive 4500 Palestinians, ~300 w/o charge or trial, 7 81 corpses held hostage after death. It should also b reminded that these numbers reflect an apartheid regime which condemns to permanent subjugation

Fifty years ago today, hundreds of people incarcerated at the Attica Correctional Facility in New York took control of the prison, issuing a set of demands for freedom, wages, education access, medical care, and more.
After 4 days, the National Guard retook the prison by force, leading to the deaths of at least 43 people. With such a tragic outcome, Attica became a national symbol both of prisoners’ organizing for liberation and the repression of law enforcement, prison guards, and the state.
In their declaration, the incarcerated people of Attica made demands that bear a chilling resemblance to what we are still calling for today. Carceral spaces have never been safe, and the impact the system makes on poor communities and Black and Brown people is immeasurable.

Palestinian resistance & resilience endure in the face of collective punishment.

Our solidarity work does not stop until every Palestinian is free & until Apartheid Israel is held accountable for its ongoing, systematic attacks against Palestinian life.

This is the violence that the U.S. funds into existence.

Countering Israel's collective punishment against Palestinians necessitates raising awareness in media while holding gov'ts & international bodies (@ICC & @UN) accountable for complicity & inaction.
@Addameer's call on the @ICRC "to safeguard the rights of all Palestinian prisoners held inside Israeli prisons from arbitrary, retaliatory, & collective punishment imposed by the Israeli Prison Services" cannot go unanswered.

🚨 After the historic jailbreak of six Palestinians from Zionist prisons, the Israeli occupation authorities have started a massive crackdown campaign: brutalizing prisoners, arresting & holding hostage some relatives of the escapees, & putting the occupied West Bank in lockdown.
Authorities and special units in the Naqqab prison have been torturing Palestinian prisoners, handcuffing & shackling them, confiscating their belongings, & unleashing police dogs on them. In response, the prisoners have set fire to some sections of the prison earlier today.
The Occupation authorities were clearly shell-shocked by the prison break, employing measures of collective punishment to intimidate the rest of the prisoners. Prisoners & allies have sounded a general alarm, calling for protests all over against these brutal Israeli attacks.

Eric has been held in solitary confinement (the Special Housing Unit, or SHU) for over 1,000 days with no explanation or legal justification, in violation of BOP & federal statutory policy. He is one of only 80 people who have been held in the SHU for more than a year.
“Eric King has faced chronic, targeted harassment, as well as severe emotional and physical torture, from BOP officers and known white supremacists working together, for over two years while held in solitary confinement.

Big news on ICE detention today! DHS is cutting contracts at Bristol in MA and Irwin in GA. This is a victory for the movement to end detention and an important first step as we press Biden to end all detention. #CommunitiesNotCages 1/

There is so much we can learn from the collective action against these immigration jails where a combination of local organizing, advocacy, litigation and media exposure helped turn the tide. These wins don't happen in a vacuum, it's the culmination of many years of pressure 2/
A key next step is ensuring that everyone who is currently detained at these jails is immediately released and not transferred to other detention centers. ICE has broad discretion to release people and transfers are traumatizing and especially reckless during the pandemic. 3/

BREAKING: ICE is cutting contracts of two immigration detention centers– the Irwin County Detention Center in GA and the Bristol County Detention Center in MA! [statement link]

The end of ICE contracts at Irwin and Bristol County are an important win for the immigrant rights movement and the growing demand to #AbolishDetention.

In GA, accounts from immigrants at Irwin were detailed in a complaint filed by GA groups & in a lawsuit that included whistleblower Dawn Wooten describing abuse, such as ICE neglecting to follow COVID protocol & a pattern of gynecological procedures performed w/o informed consent
