This week, I attended 2 very important engagements in the UK. One was a four-day journalistic conference- Innovation in digital publishing during the COVID-19 Crisis courtesy of @newsrewired.The other one a #PR conversation on Wednesday night under the hashtag #PowerAndInfluence 
2. I am glad that we are being deliberate about our commitment to #Equality and #Diversity.

3. Though these conversations might have been very emotive we must engage our communities in discussing experiences of racism, racial injustices including discrimination while learning from each other. Inclusion means going out to look for all voices because #AllVoicesMatter
4. BAME community are not looking to be given opportunities. We deserve these opportunities in all carders, from internships to management levels. The whole idea of being given an opportunity has a saviour perspective in it. @MarcelaKunova @reynoldspost @ktikolo @harrymkamau
5. The problem with saviour perspective is that the giver has the power and the receiver is the latter. We are not asking to be given opportunities. We believe we deserve these opportunities on a fair basis because we have equally deserving qualifications. #PowerAndInfluence
6. The same is in journalism and photography in particular. Some organisations will give grants to foreign photographers and correspondents to go all the way to my country Kenya and spend time photographing the Samburu and Maasai culture... #InclusionAndDiversity
7. While they could easily engage our professional photographers who do a fantastic job. If you doubt, please check out @magicalkenya @harrymkamau is a Kenyan photographer, who is also a student at @cardiffuni.In future, you can engage him.He understands the terrain way too well.
8. There is a need to provide education and training to all communities, whether black or white right from school on issues relating to #DiversityAndInclusion. No one wins alone and none of us will leave this stage alive. @ESTHERKIRAGU13 @stellanderitu @WakoliCaren @miseda2
9. The beauty of life, is in our similarities, but we must be deliberate about looking for those similarities. Deliberate about sustaining conversations that promote #inclusion #diversity #equality while reviewing policies & procedures in our workspaces both private and public.
10. Finally,being bold in our speeches like @reynoldspost did“If you are not working to dismantle systemic racism, discrimination & lack of inclusion, u are a sustainer. There’s an awakening that’s happening. Here is an opportunity to repair the damage that has been done before.
