@NitaGhei I've had it with this demeaning, patronizing psychologizing of pain. Neurologists looked at the same brain imaging as the psychologists & didn't get out their hammers to construct a COLONY.
@NitaGhei Millions of "people" were getting good "medical care" before Pain Country was colonized. Then we became "patients" who need "help," not "medical care."

Without "medical care," we became "needy," which confirmed what the colonists thought of us from the start.
@NitaGhei I've been reading the minutes of the Board of Pain Colony Supervisors for several weeks. During closed meetings, they say things about the natives like this: "The extant literature demonstrates that psycho-pathology is both an antecedent and a consequence of persistent pain."
@NitaGhei But when the same colonizer meets with the Pain Patient Rights Association, she says the colony's new policies will "help us learn to manage our pain so we can get on with living a satisfying and fulfilling life!"
@NitaGhei Who! said! we! weren't! living! satisfying! and fulfilling! lives! before! we! got! colonized?

That's not a rhetorical question. The *colonizers* said we weren't "living a satisfying and fulfilling life" before they showed up.
@NitaGhei When the Pain Patient Rights Association explained we weren't leading "satisfying and fulfilling lives" under colonial rule, the Board of Supervisors agreed to hold a session to help us "develop positive coping skills."
@NitaGhei We said we didn't need as many "coping skills" before they showed up and made it illegal to give effective medical care to Pain Country natives.

We were told we should be grateful there are some Colonial Supervisors who "care" about "patients."
@NitaGhei We said we had better "outcomes" before Colonial Rule of Pain Country when we were "people" who got "medical care."

The supervisors chuckled and elbowed each other and felt superior indeed.
@NitaGhei Some of Pain Country's colonial supervisors (the "nice" supervisors) said that if we listened to them, we'd "increase the power of our body’s natural pain relief response!"

We said please stop using so many exclamation marks. Our migraine's gotten much worse since colonization.
@NitaGhei At the end of the meeting, Pain Country's colonial supervisors asked if we felt "empowered." We pointed out that a LOT of Pain Country natives lacked the "power" to attend the meeting because Colonial rule left them disabled, distressed, diseased, or dead.
@NitaGhei Before we left the meeting, Pain Country's supervisors passed around little cups for us to pee in and counted every pill in our pockets and purses. Since they found a LOT fewer pills than the last grievance session, the Supervisors congratulated themselves on their success.
