SC Bench headed by Justices L Nageswara Rao to shortly hear plea by 31 students across India seeking the cancellation of final year university exams

UGC has mandated universites across India to wrap up final year exams by Sept 30 amid #COVID19

One among the 31 petitioners is COVID-19 positive. The petitioners have urged that the planned examinations be cancelled in the interest of justice for the students

Plea says after cancelling the final year exams of all universities, the results of such students should be calculated on the basis of their internal assessment or past performance. It is also urged that the students' mark sheets should be issued before July 31.

Late night development: Advocate Dhruv Mehta will now mention the final year law student Yash Dubey's plea which also seeks cancellation of UGC mandated finak year exams before the bench. Dubey had first written a letter petition followed by a writ in the #SupremeCourt

Also, Senior Advocate Shyam Divan to mention Aditya Thackeray's plea seeking cancellation of final year exams in the wake of rising #COVID19 cases

Thackeray had moved SC on behalf of Yuvasena, youth wing of @ShivSena

Dubey and Thackeray's petition were not listed. But urgent requests were made to the SC Registrar to allow memtioning as all the three petitions seek same prayer

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta states a similar plea seeking to cancel final year University exams was listed before Ashok Bhushan, J.& it was dismissed

Justice Rao states a bench led by Justice Ashok Bhushan will take up the pleas challenging UGC guidelines in next two days
