Prominent #HongKong activist Granny Wong held a press conference today after completing her quarantine yesterday and after being prevented from returning to the city for more than one year. 881903.com/news/local/236…
During the press conference, Wong said she was arrested by Chinese police while going through the border last year and she was forced to sign a declaration that she wouldn’t appeal her arrest. Then she was detained in Shenzhen for 15 days and transferred to another detention ...
... facility for another 30 days’ detention. She said she was interrogated for a long time during detention and the police also collected her finger prints and withdrew blood from her.
Wong said during the period of detention and being on bail, she was only verbally told that she was charged with “picking quarrels and provoking troubles” and she was never given a proper crime or reason for detention.
Wong said she was asked a lot about participating in protests in #HongKong, which made her feel like she was punished by Chinese police for lawfully attending protests in HK. She also accused the Chinese police of mentally torturing her by asking her to stand in front of ...
... a Chinese flag for several hours and forced her to attend activities organized by a patriotic group in Shanxi Province.
