While #EndSARS Movement must continue to call for the arrest & prosecution of soldiers who carried out the #LekkiMassacre; other prior killings of innocent Nigerian citizens by rogues in uniforms, all eyes must be on the balls.
This Movt. must not be morphed into arms struggle.
WAY FORWARD
After over two weeks of protests to #EndSARS & #EndPoliceBrutalityinNigeria, over 90million Nigerian Youths at home & in the Diaspora have been able to send a Red Flag across Nigeria's political firmament, and beyond, that this generation musn't be taken for a ride.
Going forward, the #EndSARS - END SPECIAL ARMED ROBBERY SQUAD in Nigeria's high & low places of government must:
1. Create for itself a sophisticated website for information dissemination. 2. Appoint visible or a faceless (guerrilla) spokesperson to sign its press statements.
At this auspicious moment in the battle for the soul of Nigeria, the #EndSARS Movement musn't continue to 've too many chiefs & not enough Indians. A visible or faceless (guerrilla) spokesperson to set the records straight, across global, local & social media is needed now. E.g👇
The urgency for a visible or faceless (guerrilla) spokesperson is owing to events of the past 2 weeks, misreported by several local & global media orgs.
If the media can't quote any credible source for #EndSARS Movt, they may rely on what the oppressors dished out to them.
3. Me thinks (might not be the consensus opinion), that rogues within @PoliceNG, as well as other security agencies, have gotten the SPECIAL MESSAGE from Nigerian Youths, the last two weeks.
It is high time the #EndSARS Movt morphed this ongoing cause to the next level.
4. Monthly, do-nothing @NGRSenate members earn N29m ($76,315) in bogus salaries & allowances. 2017, TI- @anticorruption says Anambra Gov, paid himself N17b ($44.736m) in security votes. Govs retire to bogus benefits. A country where an average worker earns N30,000 ($78) monthly?
Annually, @NigeriaGov (FG), @NGFSecretariat (State Govts), as well as their Ministries, Departments, Agencies & Parastatals, repeat line items in their Budgets, running into Millions & Billions of Naira. A country where an average @PoliceNG man earns N43,293 ($113) monthly?
The #EndSARS Movement came at the nick of time. Here is a country where:
- Public Offices are abused.
- Electoral Processes at all levels are compromised, fraught with violence, irregularities and interference by security agencies, particularly, @PoliceNG & @HQNigerianArmy.
A country where average Nigerians encounter corruption:
- When they go to hospitals
- When they come in contact with @PoliceNG & other security agencies, such as @CustomsNG, @FRSCNigeria, etc, on roadways, at their stations/offices.
- When Nigerian students are seeking admissions into public tertiary institutions nationwide, they encounter corruption. Placements into these institutions are barely based on merits, but on who you know and how much you have in your pockets.
- When Nigerians go to process international passports, at passport offices nationwide, they encounter corruption perpetrated by @nigimmigration officials and touts.
- When Nigerians go to process their drivers licenses, they encounter corruption perpetrated by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps @FRSCNigeria and touts.
- There is steep corruption in Project Biddings/Execution, across national, states & local govt levels.
- There is steep corruption in job placements across public offices. Average Nigerian graduates from our tertiary institutions can't get jobs in @NNPCgroup, @cenbank, etc.
A statement sent to @vanguardngrnews, by Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), said Nigerian economy lost more than N700b, the last 2 weeks.
Similarly, @MobilePunch reported that @followlasg lost at least N234m to closure of Lekki tollgates. #EndSARS has been successful.
NEXT LEVEL
Howbeit, because most ordinary Nigerians across States worst hit by #EndSARS protest against #PoliceBrutalityInNigeria are still struggling to recover from the economic strangulation of the March 29, 2020 #COVID19 Lockdown, I suggest the Movement leaves the roadways.
Morphing the #EndSARS Movement to the next level, it is time #WeThePeople took the battle for the soul of Nigeria to the gates of the oppressors of the Nigerian people.
Going forward, let all roads lead to the National Assembly- @nassnigeria.
2/ Since Jan 22, 2021 that joint taskforce of @HQNigerianArmy, @PoliceNG & DSS invaded Orlu & its environs abducting innocent men & women, with 9 now being charged for murder, how many Igbo Politicians, paid with tax payers money- Govs, Senators, Reps, etc have reacted?
3/ NONE! I've reached out to SE Senators to intervene on the @PoliceNG incarceration of innocent Umuigbo, but zilch.
Dear @MaziNnamdiKanu, conceding that ESN is a security stop-gap, it needs the legitimacy of law. Will cowards masquerading as leaders in Alaigbo support you? NO!
This is 2021. @NigeriaGov, @elrufai, other State Govs & LG Chairs must realise there are essential Roadway Signs, Traffic Signals, Pavement Markings which come with road constructions.
WAY FORWARD
Decentralise @FRSCNigeria. Let all 36 States + Abuja develop their own Road Rules.
FG, @kfayemi-led NGF & LG chairs should stop behaving like illiterates. Build roads with:
- Deep, Closed Drainages
- Walkways
- Streetlights
- Regulatory Signs: e.g., One Way, Stop Sign.
- Warning Signs: e.g., Pedestrian Crosswalk, School Signs
- Guide Signs: e.g. Route Markers
#DAY42: March 5, 2021 is exactly 42 days since Rev. Paulinus Offor, presiding minister HPICC, Umudim-Okporo, Orlu LGA, Imo State was abducted by @PoliceNG authorities.
@Govhopeuzodinma & CP Nasiru Mohammed should unconditionally release this innocent man to his church & family.
2/ Rev Offor was abducted when a joint taskforce of the 34 Brigade, Owerri; 302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha & the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response wrongly invaded HPICC Okporo during its morning devotion, on Friday, Jan 22, 2021.
3/ In search of ESN, the taskforce in what was an intelligence error invaded HPICC, Okporo Jan 22. The team lead acknowledged this error, asking for a ceasefire. 42days after, why is Imo CP Nasiru Mohammed still incarcerating Rev. Offor, mulling to charge him on trump-up charges?
SEARCH FOR JUSTICE?
Dear @Govhopeuzodinma, you're aware of d Jan 22, 2021 invasion of Jude Okporo's church in Okporo, leading to the abduction, illegal incarceration of Rev Paulinus Offor. Offor is an innocent man, not a terrorist nor murderer as alleged by the State & @PoliceNG.
2/ Since the 1960s, Jude Okporo's church has contributed largely to the spiritual, economic growth & development of Imo State, & Nigeria at large.
Dear @Govhopeuzodinma, do use your good offices to secure the immediate release of Rev Offor. The wrong place was invaded on Jan 22.
3/ I'm aware Personnel of the 34 Brigade, Owerri; 302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha, as well as the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team acknowledged they invaded the wrong place on the said day. If that was the case, Rev Offor shouldn't be incarcerated till date.
TWO KEYS TO SOLVING THE FULANI HERDSMEN/FARMERS CONFLICT IN NIGERIA
Since Feb 2019, today is the first time I would follow a program on any of Nigeria's tv stations. It was #PoliticsToday which featured my man, @seunokin's interview with notable Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.
2/ It is saddening to see the Fulani Herdsmen menace snowballing into a war across Nigeria's 6 geo-political zones over the last 6years, under the watch of President Muhammadu Buhari & Vice President Yemi Osinbajo- @ProfOsinbajo, as if there are no intelligent persons in Nigeria.
3/ American writer, Max Ehrmann, in his 1927 poem- Desiderata wrote "...Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story."
For this reason, let us critically examine Sheikh Gumi's interview with @seunokin.
Having studied Bitcoin's volatility since April 2020, between now & when Americans get their $1,400 stimulus checks, Bitcoin price 'll soar again.
Buy more now via peer-to-peer transactions with trusted dealer(s). Avoid adding BITCOIN/CRYPTO in your bank transactions.
2/ Whether Buhari & his goons like it or not, crypto has come to stay & gaining global acceptance.
According to Coinatmradar.com, there are now over 7,729 cryptocurrency ATMs in 72 countries, with 148,849 services allowing people to buy & sell cryptocurrencies.
3/ According to the site, the U.S. got the most bitcoin ATMs, totalling 5,749 machines nationwide. Canada- 771; U.K.- 296; Austria- 145; Spain- 84; Switzerland- 83; Czech Republic- 69; Hong Kong- 57; Taiwan- 10; Singapore- 8; Vietnam- 6; Philippines- 4 and Thailand- 2.
