1/Good morning, #Maine. @MEPublicHealth is reporting 8791 total individuals with #COVID19 (+152).

Of those, 7882 are confirmed (+134) and 909 are probable (+18).
2/Sadly, another individual has passed away.

She was a woman in her 80s from York County. Her passing marks the 163rd death in Maine associated with #COVID19.

We offer her family, friends, and community our condolences during this time of grief.
3/Overall, 6597 individuals have recovered (+169).

Hospitalizations continue to increase. Right now, 67 people are in the hospital (+1). 23 of them are in the ICU (+5) and 7 are on ventilators (+1).

108 ICU beds are available.
4/The current 7-day PCR positivity rate is 2.66%.

Two weeks ago, it was 0.92%.
5/Testing volume is 618/100K.
6/These data demonstrate exponential (not linear) growth of #COVID19 in #Maine.

As the graphic below notes, each #COVID19-positive person is now likely infecting 1.5-2.0 additional people.
7/Disrupting exponential growth trajectories is difficult. It requires all of us to reduce the likelihood of viral spread.

That involves reducing opportunities for transmission (i.e., interactions with others) and the probability of transmission (i.e., masks, distance).
8/This requires changing the way we think about #COVID19 as it is today.

It is no longer exclusively driven by outbreaks, large gatherings, or urban areas-though those are risks.

It is being fueled by community transmission, small gatherings, and in spread in rural areas.
9/What was previously abstract for many is now very real.

It is in every county and every corner of the State.

What can you do? Wear a mask. Maintain physical distance.

1/@MEPublicHealth is reporting 47 new cases of #COVID19 today.

Thankfully, no new individuals have passed away w/COVID19.

More details to come.
2/But there is an important note about today's case #s.

A disruption on Saturday in the data delivery system that reports COVID-19 test results from labs to Maine CDC caused today’s website update to include fewer cases than would have been reported in the past 24 hours.
3/This means that today’s reported number of new cases reflects fewer than 24 hours of data, while Monday’s update will reflect more than 24 hours of data.
