Coronavirus deaths were reported in Boone, Buchanan, Carroll (5), Chickasaw, Dallas, Dickinson, Harrison, Jones, Kossuth, Lee, Linn (2), Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Muscatine, O'Brien (2), Osceola, Plymouth, Polk (2), Pottawattamie (2), Scott, Sioux (2), and Wapello Counties.
With a coronavirus death in Osceola County now being reported (again - one had previously been reported in late October, then was re-assigned to another county), coronavirus has now killed Iowans living in 96 of the 99 counties.
On a day when 32 death were reported, hospitalizations were down 31 to 1,416, including 273 in intensive care (down 2) and 137 on ventilators (down 7).
There were 200 admissions to Iowa hospitals for coronavirus in the last 24-hour period.
Iowa reported 3 more long-term care "outbreaks," for a total of 120 - the highest number of outbreaks yet.
Sadly, there were 11 more deaths of long-term care residents reported, for a total of 993.
Between 10 am Nov. 20 and 10 am Nov. 21, Iowa reported 3,627 new cases of coronavirus, for a total of 206,660.
Subtracting deaths (2,159) and "recoveries" (115,732), there are now 88,769 active cases of coronavirus in Iowa - the highest yet - or one out of every 36 Iowans!
November has already been Iowa's deadliest month from coronavirus (444 deaths) and we still have 9 days to go.
November has already seen the most new coronavirus cases in Iowa (79,303), and we still have 9 days to go.
Help stop the spread of this deadly infectious disease!
The 3,627 new cases reported on state's spreadsheets today were confirmed on 9,141 new tests (from 1,144,669 to 1,153,810) for a rate of 39.7%.
The state's "positive case analysis" shows 2,489 new cases on 10,558 tests for a rate of 23.6%.
Either way, rate is far too high!
Of the 3,627 new cases, there were 472 new cases for Iowa kids under age 18, for a total of 20,088.
As recently as Halloween, that was 11,305.
On September 1, it was 4,538.
When kids get it, it endangers the kids, and also their families, staff, and the public.
