People who support M7 do not do so logically. No matter how bad he gets, how astray he leads this country, they'd still love and support him. When someone's decision is not based on reason but rather on feelings, nothing can change their mind. Thread.
People who still support M7 love him with all his violence and dishonesty. It's a perfect love story of loving someone despite their flaws. When you love someone, you are usually told to throw out logic and think with the heart. You can't change wuch people's minds.
For them it's not about what's good for this country logically. They'll say M7 is the perfect person for Uganda even though logically his stay in power is leading this country to its grave. Its like how a person in an abusive relationship stays no matter how bad the abuse gets.
Friends keep advising the person to leave but the person keeps seeing the partner as a lover who's just flawed. They think the partner will change & be better. Usually, in such scenarios, the victim of abuse focuses on the few good things their partner does & ignores the abuse.
It's not uncommon to hear M7 lovers saying it's the people he hires who are bad. During the middle of the #FreeBobiWine protests recently, someone was saying M7 doesn't endorse police brutality even though he has used it severally to gain political advantage.
A lover's mind can't process the negative things their person does. If it accidentally does, it creates a scapegoat to keep the person clear of anything that taint the image of that person in the lover's mind.
It's not uncommon to hear M7 lovers cheering on the armed forces as they brutalize opposition candidates and their supporters. To them, these are just hooligans, thieves trying to distabilize the country. That's just something they make up to keep their image of M7 untainted.
If they were to use logic and reason, they'd see the unfortunate truth that M7 is actually using police brutality to scare off his opponents and their supporters. M7 loves violence and he sadly knows how to be violent. He's good at it. He knows how to win with violence.
When he lost an election in 1980, he didn't think of any other solution to wash off his shame. He chose what he loves the most. Violence. 6 years later, he was swearing in as president. To him, violence doesn't disappoint.
When Besigye rose to fame, M7 handled him with violence. The man was imprisoned without charges countless times just to kill his resolve. He was treated like a thief.

Bobi Wine is going through the same thing. M7 knows violence will win in the end. I hope this time he's wrong.
So, the narrative that M7 doesn't endorse brutality of his opponents and their supporters is not logical. Like we have seen, he has used this almost all his life. He can't win without using violence and brutality.
Nedda, you point out where he won without brutalizing his opponents. Of course his presidency of the scripture union and debating society at Ntare do not work. I'm not even sure these positions were voted for. Most of these used to to be appointed positions bu the staff🤣.
So, as proponents of regime change, we have a big and difficult task to do to convince our fellow Ugandans that the man they're in love with is not good for them and for everyone in the country. We have to awaken their logic and reason so they can see things the way they are.

Prior to the 2016 elections, I was involved in some political activism mainly on FB. I was convinced we needed change of leadership in this country. However, 2 days to election day, I was in my college apartment, too broke to travel back to Ntungamo to vote. #UGDecides2021
The morning of the election day, I woke up feeling guilty that I was going to be an enabler of another term of among other things, a poor health and education sectors & human rights violations by M7's security organs. I called a friend and borrowed money. Around 11AM, I set off.
I reached my polling station at Buhanama P/S in Itojo 15 minutes before closure of voting. I remember just going straight to casting my vote because almost everyone had finished voting and waiting for the counting of votes. It was the first time to vote and I couldn't be prouder.

People really don't care about animals esp dogs. I keep asking why? These creatures are only asking for help, if you can't help, at least don't hurt them. In Makindye today, dogs were poisoned. 12 of them were lying on the streets with foam in their mouths. A horrifying scene.
In Kla, a woman near the taxi park tied a rope in a dog's neck, fastened it on a boda boda and told the rider to ride off😩 The only crime the dog did was passing by as she cooked food on the streets for her customers. I have a dream that one day, dogs in our city will get peace.
I have a plan to rehabilitate street dogs, bring them back to full health and to their glorious beautiful nature. Then, I'll look for them new homes and owners. I'm sure there are people looking for beautiful nice dogs and puppies.

In Uganda, we need to normalize visiting psychiatrists and other mental therapists. Mental health conditions can be diagnosed and treated just like any other condition. There is a boy whose parents were sure he's just stubborn and just doesn't want to study. #MentalHealthMatters
Unknown to them, the boy had been bullied at school for over a year, was fighting severe depression and was losing the battle. It's a counselor who met the child once that recommended a psychiatrist. Around 4-5 months down the road, the boy was back to full health. #mentalhealth
The parents had been using the wrong therapy for a wrong illness. They were caning the boy, teachers at school suspending him, insulting him and all. Until you get to know the illness, you can't treat the illness. Parents, before you punish children, study the problem fully.

Life didn't mean anything to her anymore. All the words I thought could change her mind and prolly make her love life once again didn't change a thing about her decision. "My mother is coming tomorrow to check on me and I'd like her to find me when I'm already rested."
I broke down. I knew her not only as my friend but also as a lover of life; a happy and strong woman just trying to make ends meet and provide for her family. But I also knew about her difficult childhood. She was raped once. She was involved in a car accident.
These two had lasting impressions on her. She still gets flashbacks of the two incidents. With my psychology background, I knew it could be either PTSD or BPD. But she also didn't want to see a psychiatrist. She thought it's where they get to tell her that she's insane.

Around the world, one trillion plastic bags are used every year. Then, there are plastic bottles & other one-use plastics that end up in landfill on earth & floating on our seas. The problem is overwhelmingly huge, but it's one that we can all do something about. #ClimateAction
As consumers we can try to avoid the consumption of plastic products (particularly one-use products), and try to use alternative materials whenever possible.
According to the Guardian, one million plastic bottles are bought around the world every single minute. Avoid buying bottled water whenever you can by carrying your own drinking water bottle. This saves a lot even though you might notice. #StopPlasticPollution #ProtectOurPlanet
