Why change?
Per @CDCgov the change was an effort to reduce economic hardship for those unable to work during quarantine as well as reduce burden on #PublicHealth system.
To be CLEAR: the recommendation remains that a 14 day #quarantine after #COVID19 exposure is still the safest option.
ALSO - local #PublicHealth authorities have the FINAL SAY in when quarantine can end.
Quarantine MAY be reduced to 10 days if a person remains asymptomatic OR 7 days if a person is asymptomatic AND has a negative test within 48 hours of #quarantine ending (note - negative tests prior to day 5 of quarantine don’t count to end quarantine early). #COVID19
Let’s review what counts as exposure:
- within 6 feet of someone with #COVID19 for TOTAL of 15 min
-provided home care to someone with COVID-19
-direct physical contact (hugged or kissed them)
-shared eating/drinking utensils
-they sneezed/coughed on you
Remember - #maskswork at helping to limit spread of #Covid19 so you may want to consider wearing a mask in your house if you have been exposed to help limit exposure to your contacts at home.
Please - if you have questions about #COVID19 exposure, testing, etc. contact your healthcare provider or local health department.
