The first being the choice of managing #COVID19 for hospital capacity instead of aiming for #COVIDzero.
Then within the management regime several others failures. First: insufficient testing. Frequent testing at #LongTermCare, and #hospitals would have saved many lives. A large scale deployment of neighbourhood testing centres for anyone who wants it woudl have curbed transmission.
The city of #MiamiBeach offers free walk in testing for anyone who wants it, but the #provinceofBC with its centralized health care rations tests. It is hard to me to understand why.
Second, a consistent downplaying of the benefits of #masks by our provincial health officer, Dr Bonnie Henry, until an about face two weeks ago. She is partly responsible for the anti-mask sentiment we hear about in the interior.
Third, a draconian control of all data on #COVID19. Transparency would make the communication of restrictions easier. I understand that some data may create prejudice, aggregation, and some common sense can negate those motives.
Contact tracing data by health region should be released. In larger regions, like Fraser Health, and Northern Health disaggregate numbers are vital to keep society going for mostly self contained town and cities. There have been serious impacts from their opaque communication.
Finally, the reluctance to create zonal travel bubbles. Vancouver Island should have been isolated a long time ago. Travel across provinces should have been combined with a quarantine (a shorter one with the help of testing though) a long time ago.
Insipid and incompetent leadership by @adriandix and @jjhorgan has cost too many lives. I hope they reflect and improve from this point onwards.
