Health costs prevent millions of people from seeking or getting the care they need. Protecting the right to health means protecting people from financial hardship.
Let's recover better from #COVID19 by ensuring #HumanRights are central to the recovery efforts to reach our common 🌐 goals:
💟 #HealthForAll
⚖️ equal opportunities for everyone
🌳 greener planet
#COVID19 has been a painful reminder that investing in health is NOT optional. #HealthForAll is the foundation of stable, equitable, prosperous and peaceful societies and economies that protect everyone
#HealthForAll is our most urgent priority. To protect everyone now and in the future, we call on countries to redouble their efforts and invest more in #PrimaryHealthCare to achieve universal health coverage.
To protect everyone from health emergencies, we need health systems that:
✅ empower people & communities
✅ provide quality primary care to everyone
✅ ensure that essential public health services continue
Even before #COVID19 100 million people per year were pushed into poverty because of health costs. We can’t go 🔙 to the status quo. Let's invest in health systems protecting #HealthForAll!

"Last week I spoke about the importance of testing, which is vital for knowing where the #COVID19 virus is.
But it’s also important to know where the virus has been, and how many people might have been infected without showing symptoms or being diagnosed by testing"-@DrTedros
"To do that, seroprevalence studies are important, which look for antibodies in the blood of individuals, to evaluate the extent of infection in different populations"-@DrTedros#COVID19

It's International Day of Persons with Disabilities
#Disability is part of the human experience.
Over 1B people, ~15% of the 🌍's population, live with a disability. Almost everyone will be temporarily or permanently impaired at some point in life.
#Disability disproportionately affects vulnerable populations:
Lower-income countries have a higher prevalence of disability than higher-income countries. Disability is more common among women, older people and children and adults who are poor.
Half of people with #disability cannot afford health care, compared to a third of people without disability. They are often denied chances to work, attend school & participate fully in society - which creates barriers for their prosperity & well-being.
